Who is Count Dracula?

Count Dracula is a vampire, sorcerer and Transylvanian nobleman, who claims to be a Székely descended from Attila the Hun. He inhabits a decaying castle in the Carpathian Mountains near the Borgo Pass. Unlike the vampires of Eastern European folklore, which are portrayed as repulsive, corpse-like creatures, Dracula exudes a veneer of aristocratic charm which masks his unfathomable evil.

Dracula's armature and possible pose for a bronze sculpture

Finally found time to continue on the Dracula sculpture. Since Halloween is 11 days away, I guess it got me into the spirit of things after seen all the Halloween decorations my wife displayed.

The armature was purchased from truformarmatures.com. They seem to have their act together!  Using a correctly proportioned armature saves you hours.

I will also be uploading many more videos having to do with art; however, only this time I will keep my art videos separate from non art theme videos. Those interested in being notified when a new video is uploaded must use the yellow "subscribe" button on the upper right hand corner. The videos will come from my "claytobronze" youtube account and not from the "caesaryanez" account.

Count Dracula head sculpt - day two

Below we have the results of the second day of working on the Dracula head. Dental tools were used to detail the sculpt. A turpenoid wash was applied with a fine hair bursh in order to soften the hard lines created by the tools. In 24 hours the vampire head sculpture will be revisited in order to continue adding facial details.

Count Dracula head sculpt - day one

For the first day of the Dracula head sculpt I used a head blank in order to expedite the process. The head was in the correct scale for my 24" figure.

The image above show where I created eye sockets for my eye beads.

Here you can see the beads inserted into the sockets. The beads where taken from my wife's costume jewelry. Yes, guys sometimes if you are nice to the spouse she will allow you to use her unused costume jewelry.

This image shows where I removed most of the original hair. I also began to add features throughout the face in order to get to the likeness of my subject.

Here grandpa Dracula looks like he lost his dentures.

The fangs and tongue were added. The hairlines were also added to the sculpt giving the hair piece more of a Bela Lugosi hair pattern.

Before and after transformation. Please note, the Dracula head sculpt will undergo several more passes. Today was just the first day.

Proposed Dracula Coffin

Dracula CoffinThis render was created using Photoshop CS4. The concept is still in it rough stages; therefore, the actual coffin may vary. The wood depicted is correct, "walnut hardwood".

Dracula's Coffin
This bottom rendering is what the inside of the coffin will like like. The outer lighter boarder represents the coffin's walls. The anatomical model was used in order to scale the vampire coffin correctly. The head shown on the figure is what I intend to use for the Dracula look and feel. The final model will also have some sort of bat like wings.

How to Build a Vampire Gothic Coffin

I came across this video on YouTube.com on how to build gothic coffins. The person did an outstanding job describing the procedure. I will utilize portions of the video to build my Dracula Coffin.
